KZN Yearling Sale Draft

Rathmor will be taking eleven yearlings to the Suncoast KZN Yearling Sale this year, four of them acting as agent. The sale will take place at Suncoast in Durban 5 and 6 July. Our yearlings are registered with the KZN Breeder's Club, therefore they qualify for the Triple Million Challenge incentive on offer.

Three of them are by our resident stallion Woodborough. Lot 5, Carousel, is a first foal out of Heavenly Duet by Model Man. Heavenly Duet is a half-sister to 10-time winner Grafton Street (by Jallad), his wins include the Gr 2 Premier's Trophy.

Lot 33 Craftsman is out of Lady Dolpour, who has produced four winners to date. She is a half-sister to Gr 1 winner, Nobely Born. Lady Dolpour has produced five-time winner Sporting Doll, winner over distances of 1800-2400m, as well as full-sister Sporteska, a five-time winner over 1000-1400m, both by Sportworld. This dam-line includes the likes of Legally Blonde who was voted Champion 2YO Filly in 2003.

The last from Woodborough is out of Arnold's Choice, named Beetlebum, Lot 168. Arnold's Choice (by Elliodor) has produced two winners to date and this dam-line includes recent Kenilworth Fillies Nursery Gr.3 winner Hammie's Hooker.

Lot 52, Son Of Approval, is a bay colt by Miesque's Approval out of an unraced Brazilian imported mare, Mai Mia Bambina by Yagli(USA). Her first foal is an unraced two year old by Woodborough. Her second dam is Mayapur who has produced 5 foals, 5 runners and 5 winners - one of them a Gr 2 winner and 22 wins in total between the five horses.

Mr Admiration (Lot 85) is by Japanese sire Admire Main, a son of Sunday Silence, out of Purple Plume by Argosy. Purple Plume is a winner herself and placed twice from six starts. The dam is a half-sister to Gr 1 winner Michaelmas, Gr 3 winner Young Prince and Gr 1 placed Lunar Rainbow.

The next two yearlings are both by Parade Leader. The first is Lot 241, Mystery Leader, out of Glamour Model by Counter Action. Her first foal is currently an unraced two year old. Glamour Model is a half-sister to three Group Placed horses, including Leisure Guide who ran second in the Gr 1 SA Fillies Guineas. The fourth dam is Top Model who produced multiple Grade 1 winning racehorse and sire, Model Man, ARCSA Horse of the Year & Champion Older Male in 1986.

Lot 252 out of Gutsy Girl named Tarafah, is a chestnut colt and a half-brother to two as yet unraced fillies. Gutsy Girl was herself a three time winner and she placed 13 times. Third dam is Gr 2 winner Bound To Honour(NZ). Under this dam-line we have Long Dollar, Equus Champion Male Stayer in 2007, Gr 2 winner Polar Bound, and Bound To Travel - who in turn is the dam of Toccata (NZ), Equus Champion 3YO Female Sprinter in 1999 and Oaks Trial Listed winner, Markofdistinction.

Acting as Agent, we have four yearlings, the first two by King Of Kings who led the National Log earlier this year as Leading Sire of Two Year Olds. Lot 93 is an unnamed daughter of Ritualistic, who descends from Gr 3 winning daughter of Harry Hotspur, Old Rituals. She has produced five winners in Eastern Rituals, and Rocky Rituals - dam of 8 winners (four of them Black Type) including Genuine Leather who ran second in the SA Fillies Nursery to King's Temptress, another daughter of King Of Kings.

Bazentin Ridge is a son of King Of Kings, Lot 232, out of Frankinsense by Winter Romance. He is a half-brother to four time winner Vimy Ridge (by Mogok). Fourth dam is Party Time, multiple Gr 1 winner and champion broodmare - her descendants include Morisco, Vodacom Durban July winner Trademark, First Arrival, Clifton Queen, Lets Rock And Roll and Appelate Court.

Lot 169 is an unnamed filly by Judpot out of Ascot Jewel by Al Mufti. The filly is a half-sister to Bullard, a three time winner. Bold Black Type winners in this pedigree include a full-brother to Ascot Jewel, Jamaican Justice, as well as Gr 1 Queens Plate winner Chichester, sire Kraken, Tabarly and Royal Mariner.

The last is Lot 236, an unnamed daughter of Kahal out of Gazania Time by Anytime. The dam has one previous as yet unraced foal by Mogok. Horses who stand out in this dam-line are Irish Flame, Equus Champion 3YO Colt/Gelding in 2010, Equus Champion Stayer in 2010 as well as Equus Horse of the Year in 2010; Vertical Takeoff, Storm Crossing and Clock The Rock.
