Rathmor will be sending one of their strongest drafts to the National Sales this year, beginning with our rare white colt Gran Blanco who starts as Lot 74, a half-sister to our international Group 1 winning Gypsy's Warning and Gr 1 Summer Cup winner Surabi, a filly from the immediate family of Circle Of Life and Zebra Crossing, a quality Brave Tin Soldier colt from the family of Wendywood and Malteme, and an eye-catching Var colt from a strong sprinting family. Our yearlings are all registered with the KZN Breeder's Club and Premium Scheme, therefore qualify for the KZN Breeders Million Mile and Race Day.

Lot 74 Gran Blanco
Kahal - Perakeen by Rakeen: Colt

A colt who has drawn world-wide attention since his birth, and the only one-of-a-kind Thoroughbred in the country, Gran Blanco will be a star attraction for his potential owner at the racetrack. He carries a strong Bold Black Type pedigree to match his outstanding conformation. Besides his unusual colour and markings - white with chestnut ears, Gran Blanco is a big, well-grown quality colt with a good length of rein who stands over ground. A correct horse who scored 8.5 for his yearling inspection, he has good bone and is very much a Kahal in looks. Out of mare Perakeen by Rakeen, his dam is a 5-time winner and she placed twice in the Gr 3 Yellowwood Handicap Stakes, as well as two Listed races of distances between 1300 - 1600m.

The first four dams in this pedigree are all Group placed mares in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Second dam Perfick(NZ) is a 6-time winner who placed in the Gr 2 Concor Technicrete Spring Handicap and two Listed races. She has produced three winners who have achieved 12 wins between them. Third dam Royal Acclaim (AUS) placed third in the Gr 1 South Australian Oaks and she has produced four winners, all of which have achieved Black Type. Fourth dam is Sweet Habit(AUS), who placed second in two Australian Group 1's, and producing seven winners including Gr 3 placed Fair Habit. This is the family of Gr 1 Vodacom Durban July winner (producing winners at stud) Grey's Inn(USA).

Lot 110 Harry Lime
Var - Rattled by Alami: Colt

An exceptionally good-looking dark bay colt by Var, built for plenty of speed, who has to be seen. Well-grown, athletic, a very strong individual with large powerful hindquarters, Harry Lime has an equally fast pedigree to match his speedy good looks.

Harry Lime is a first foal - his dam Rattled was a winner and placed four times over 1200m. Second dam Rattlebag is a 6-time winner including taking home the Gr 3 Azalea Fillies And Mares Handicap and two Listed races.
