Share

With foaling season well upon us right now, we take a look at a few of our foals that have been born recently on the farm.

Strategic News(AUS) had his first foal arrive on 12 September. Out of Coconut Grove, she had a smart bay colt.
Coconut Grove is by Rambo Dancer out of Cape Kiwi(NZ) by Kaapstad(NZ). She is winner of the Listed East Cape Paddock Stakes and placed 7 times, earning R364,405 in stakes from the age of 3 to 6 over 1400 - 1600m.

Strategic News' second foal, a substantial bay colt, is out of the exceptionally well-bred Tiara's Tune(AUS). She is by Xaar (a full brother to Modus Vivendi) out of Refuge by Sadler's Wells/Darshaan/Top Ville mare.

Gypsy Queen, the dam of Grade 1 winner in South Africa and America - Gypsy's Warning - foaled a beautiful bay filly on 24 September by Fort Wood and looks very much like her illustrious half-sister, Gypsy's Warning. This makes the filly a full-sister to Gypsy Madonna, who sold for R1 350 000 to Varsfontein Stud at the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sales.
Gypsy Queen, by 1988 Durban July winner Royal Chalice out of Sara's Warning(GB) by Caveat(GB) is the dam of 6 runners and 4 winners to date including 7 time winner The Tallisman by All Fired Up, 4 time winner Bannock Burn by Among Men, Grade 2 winner Surabi and multiple Group winner in South Africa and America, Gypsy's Warning.
To date Gypsy's Warning has had 5 wins in South Africa (Including two Grade 1 wins SA Fillies Classic Grade 1, Thekwini Fillies Stakes Grade 1) - and 2 wins in USA, as well as placing in two Grade 1 events in America.

The next mare, War Echo, foaled a bay Ravishing filly now named Quest For Glory. War Echo (by Complete Warrior - Distant Echoes by Prince Sao) is herself a half-sister to Equus Champion Broodmare in 2008 and 2010, Stormsvlei, the dam of multiple Grade 1 Champion and Horse-Of-The-Year Pocket Power and his equally-brilliant sister River Jetez, who is currently campaigning successfully overseas. The filly is therefore closely related to Pocket Power and River Jetez through both her sire Ravishing (being by Jet Master)and her dam.
War Echo is also a half-sister to ARCSA Champion Sprinter (1988) Harry's Echo, a 13 time winner.

Zimbabwean-bred Bronwyn (Huntingdale - Rebecca's Song by Sailor Prince(NZ) foaled a beautiful A.P. Answer colt. Bronwyn is a 4 time winner in Zimbabwe from 800 - 1700 metres, and had 8 placings. Bronwyn's dam, Rebecca's Song(ZIM), was voted Spey Bridge Champion 2 Year Old in 1996 and is a 3 time winner. She is the dam of 5 runners and 5 winners including mulitple Grade 3 winner Rebecca's Fleet(ZIM).
Her fourth dam is Prontisima(ARG), the dam of Sire and ARCSA Champion 2YO Colt in 1983 - and 7 time winner Prontisimo(ARG).

Intrinsic Lady foaled a promising Parade Leader colt. Intrinsic Lady (Foveros - Port Wine by Plum Bold) is a half-sister to 1988 Durban July Winner and Sire Royal Chalice. She is the dam of 5 runners and 4 winners including Coopers Ferry and Pipers Point.
Her unraced daughter Solaise is in turn the dam of 2 winners, American Idol and Caribbean Blue. Intrinsic Lady's family includes the likes of Set Afire, Rudra (also by Parade Leader), Nania, sire Bushmanland, Phineas Fogg, and Honour The Guest(ZIM) Spey Bridge Champion 2 Year Old in 2000 amongst others.

Lizabella(GB)(Sinndar - Lilisa by Doyoun) foaled a lovely Dynasty filly. Lizabella is unraced, and is the dam of 3 runners and 1 winner to date, a R225 000 yearling called Act Of Parliament by National Assembly. Lizabella is a half-sister to the dam of Linngari(IRE), muliple Group winner with 11 wins and over 1.5 million Euros in stakes earned, from the age of 2-6 in a shining career of consistent racing success, winning in 7 different countries. He is currently standing at stud in France.

Then of course, there is our famous white foal, now named Gran Blanco. By KZN's top stallion Kahal, he is out of Perakeen (Rakeen - Perfick(NZ) by Straight Strike(USA). She is a 5 time winner from the age of 3 to 5 over 1300 - 1600 metres as well as placing 12 times.
Perakeen placed second and a third over 2 years in the Grade 3 Yellowwood Handicap. She is the dam of two previous foals including King Cole by King Of Kings(IRE) and Sanction by Miesque's Approval(USA). She is related to 2004 Vodacom Durban July winner Greys Inn(USA) through her fourth dam.
